Brian Eno Urges Support to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced following a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of producers and composers. The track features a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The track is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
