Fresh Details Come to Light Regarding the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged regarding the tragic demises of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Discovery
According to a report citing a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an session initially became concerned after not being able to enter the home. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently detained without bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family challenged several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Furthermore disputed published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" conduct by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
