President Trump Welcomes Families of Attacked Guard Personnel to the White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Background on the Tragic Event
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.
White House Offer
The president explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“Sarah was the individual that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” the principal, the leader of her alma mater, stated to the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”
Memorial arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and halt providing visas to possessors of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told the program that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with excellence, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
